Two Tales, One Story

Been a while, but here are early drafts of a pair of my poems probably bound for portfolio (hence similar theme to Snow Diamonds)

Brink
There you stand, heaving the air
Dragging it down to your depths.
Unmoving, rooted atop the cliff;
Peering onwards to unseen views.

I meander, drift; slowly step,
Waiting for your feet to shift.
Sprinkled with that glint of fear
You view some gaping maw.

You sway and shift.
Try to judge the road;
Dissipate all that was,
As motion shifts away.

Daily I wait,
You never move.
Forever stuttering,
Upon the brink.

Onwards
Stepping out, tentative, slow
Under the meek morning sky.

Beneath the sparse blossom bows
Our track gently trundles onwards.

The trees weave tighter, all is dim
But the flora flares luridly at us.

You dart ahead, cast me a grin,
Thick shadows sprawl the path.

You slump upon a soft grass bank,
All about me grows silent, still.

Rotted and webbed, all is dank,
You call for me from far beyond.

But my feet sink in concreted will,
The heavy air drowns my dismay.

Onwards you say, but fearful
I will hurt you with my truth.

Forever here, just beyond;
Is where I'll stay.
